Toshiba has a great reputation for building solid computers and this Toshiba NB205 netbook is no exception to that fact. Users are raving about how stylish and durable this machine is. Some notebooks have a flimsy look and feel, but the Toshiba NB205 is comparable to a regular laptop in look and function.
Besides the aesthetics, one of the big selling points for this model is the advertised 9 hour battery life. In reality, most owners agree that it comes pretty close to this goal. This is pretty amazing when you realize that many larger laptops only last a couple of hours before they need a recharage.
The NB205 has a full size keyboard that is great if you’re a writer or do a lot of reports. It has a big, glossy screen that you can watch up to two movies on and still have hours of user time left for other tasks. The sound quality isn’t great, but is okay with headphones.
One issue of concern is that many owners experience trouble in getting the machine to talk to their wireless network. This is a common problem that seems to have many solutions depending on the model you have. One owner suggests that pressing the FN and F8 keys at the same time will lead to a fix for this problem – you need to find the wireless software on/off switch. Once you get the machine set up for wireless, then it runs smoothly.
One excellent feature is that it has built in hard drive protection. One not so good feature is that the battery attaches to the back of the machine, so it adds bulk. You’ll definately need a larger netbook case for this model.
The Toshiba NB205 is a good choice for those who like high quality portability with a rockin keyboard.
