Shopping for a quality netbook computer is pretty easy once you know what features you’re looking for. Maybe you’ve heard that netbooks are becoming pretty popular, or you’ve seen them on TV, or a friend or family member has one, well, you’re in the right place to study netbook PC reviews.
The first thing you’ll notice about netbooks is that they’re a lot smaller than a laptop, which is why they’re so popular. I mean, who wants to lug around a big laptop when you can carry a lightweight PC with you that does everything you need it to do?
Three things you should look for in a netbook computer:
Screen Size – Most netbooks range in size from 7-inches to 10-inches. There are a few larger ones that are 12-inches. I would say that screen size is comparable to a portable DVD player. The image quality on netbooks is excellent, so screen size is a matter of personal preference.
Keyboard Size – Just like laptops, netbooks come with various keyboards. This issue is going to be a little bit more important to those of you with bigger fingers. Some owners complain that the keyboard on certain models are too small. Even if you like all the other features, a netbook keyboard that is uncomfortable for you to use may be an issue of concern. Fortunately, there are models that have bigger keyboards.
Price – Netbooks range in price from $300 - $500. This makes them a huge bargain over your average laptop computer. Whether you spend more or less depends on the model style and individual features.
Other things to consider before buying:
Game Playing – Because of their small size and memory capacity (1 GB), these are not heavy game playing machines. However, you may be able to play smaller games that don’t use up much space on the hard drive.
Internet Access – You will be able to use wireless internet with your netbook, which means you’ll be able to access the internet anytime.
Battery Life – Average battery life ranges from 6 – 9 hours.
Hard Drive – Most netbooks have 160 GB of hard drive space. If you want more, you can buy a 2 GB memory (SD) card and install it yourself, which owners claim is fairly easy. You can often find online instructions to show you how to install more memory.
Operating System – Most netbooks currently run on Windows XP Home edition. Once Windows 7 is released, it will most likely replace XP on newer models.
